Welcome to ~/sudo Forge – where defensive security professionals come to sharpen their offensive edge.
The Story Behind the Forge
SudoForge is a digital makerspace born from a simple question: "What does it actually look like from the other side?" This space documents a real journey where someone with defensive security experience tackles building practical offensive skills – no pretense, just honest documentation of the learning process with all its successes, failures, and late-night troubleshooting.
~/whoami
I'm a Pacific Northwest native turned Maui transplant as a teen who's been tinkering with tech since the 80's. My first computer was a Tandy 1000 with two floppy drives and 512KB of memory — cutting-edge at the time, assuming the boot disk hadn’t been demagnetized by your monitor, your speakers, or just bad vibes. The only cloud computing back then were floppies we used as frisbees.
I am... Coffee-powered, ocean-adjacent, perpetually curious.
I've spent years on the defensive side of cybersecurity, regularly curious about what it looked like from the other side of the firewall, and am now documenting that journey here at SudoForge, building vulnerable labs and breaking things professionally (instead of just accidentally ;).

Current status: Simultaneously intrigued, excited, and mildly terrified by the AI revolution. Writing about cybersecurity, automation, and the beautiful chaos of learning new things when you're not twenty-something anymore.
Why "A Pentester's Digital Makerspace"?
Like any good makerspace, this is about building, breaking, and sharing:
- Tested lab configurations that actually work
- Automation scripts that save hours of setup time
- Real walkthroughs with videos, including when things go wrong
- Downloadable resources you can deploy immediately
The Anti-Gatekeeping Approach
Cybersecurity has enough barriers. SudoForge operates on the principle that everyone's learning journey is valid – whether you're a SOC analyst curious about red team techniques, a pentester seeking ready-made labs, or someone completely new wanting structured guidance.
What You'll Find
Lab Building Guides with downloadable templates and automation scripts. Honest Documentation of real progress, including failures. Community Resources through GitHub repos and shared configurations. Structured Learning Paths designed for time-constrained professionals.
The Philosophy
This isn't about becoming a "10x hacker" overnight. It's about building genuine understanding through hands-on experience and creating resources that save the next person time and frustration. Every post provides immediate practical value – working configurations, automation scripts, or just knowing that error message is normal and here's the fix.
